What is the most valuable thing you can ever own in your life…?
(Hint – it has nothing to do with the size of your Bank balance!)
Good Health is the answer – no amount of money will compensate for
ill health.
There are, of course many unfortunate people who are not blessed with good health or lifefitness and often, with commendable resilience and fortitude, they overcome their disabilities or illnesses and get as much from life as they can. However each one of these people would doubtless exchange a fortune (whatever size) for good health.
So if good health is so valuable and important – how can it be protected and insured…?
By keeping fit – and why, already knowing that good health is their most valuable possession, do so many people fail to adequately insure and protect this prized asset?
Fitness is achieved by exercise and most meaningful healthy exercise takes a little effort and self-discipline, especially as we get older.
Without constant effort youthful and natural lifefitness obviously deteriorates quickly with age and after 40 it becomes harder and harder to maintain fitness. It becomes a lot easier to consider that “…well I am now getting on a bit – it is inevitable that I gain some pounds, loose some hair and get puffed out quicker climbing stairs etc. – so I might as well give in to age and concentrate on the more enjoyable aspects of life – good food, wine, feet up watching TV etc...” However EVERYTHING you do, even the examples just given, can be even more enjoyable if you have, even just, a basic degree of fitness.
Keeping fit and exercise tips - Exercise, does not necessarily mean arduous workouts in the gym or 5K runs round the block each night.
Just small changes in lifestyle and habits can have a dramatic effect on your lifefitness...
Park in the farthest space from the mall doors, for example, instead of driving all around looking for the nearest space, climb the stairs instead of taking the escalator, ride a bike or walk to the local store instead of getting the car out, do more gardening, get a mower you have to walk with rather than ride on – there are many simple every day chores and jobs that can present opportunities for a little healthy exercise.
Fitness, not only makes your body feel better - apart from the aches and strains of fatigue (which get less and less the fitter you get and are satisfying in a way anyway, if they are a result of exercise) it also helps your mental state. Minor problems in your life stay minor problems, because you have more import issues to consider ...
Exercise is also very addictive…it may take a little time to get the addiction, but once you make a little effort and feel the benefit from it, it will make you want to do a little more and so on…
Many people, when they buy a car, for example, will wash it and polish it, ensure that it is maintained in top condition and in general look after it carefully, But, no matter how much the car cost – it is only money value, nothing more!
But when it comes to their health, which really is priceless, it is simply taken for granted and is not maintained or looked after even as much as their (money value only) car.
Your body and health is far MORE important to you than any physical possession that you can ever own…so isn’t it worth the time and effort to keep it at least minimally maintained?
